祂在勞動的人群中 （泰戈爾） He is there where the tiller is tilling the hard ground (Tagore, Gitanjali)

泰戈爾的「頌歌集」裡所頌讚的對象，很容易讓我們與在破畜棚裡誕生，在木匠家庭長大，在漁民當中找到追隨者的耶穌。
他寫道：

「祂在犁著硬土的農民這裡，在敲打硬石的築路者這裡。
在雨中，在烈日下，祂與他們同在。祂的衣袍上沾滿塵土。
脫掉你的聖袍，甚至追隨祂到這塵土中來吧！」

「解脫？有何事比此更解脫？
我們的主已經喜悅地將受造萬物的鎖鏈加在祂自己身上，
祂永永遠遠與我們相連。」


「離開你的默想，把花朵與香爐放到一邊去！
若你的衣服變襤褸，染了污穢，又何妨？
額上滴著汗水，在勞苦中你正與祂相遇。」


He is there where the tiller is tilling the hard ground and where the pathmaker is breaking stones. 
He is with them in sun and in shower, and his garment is covered with dust. 
Put off thy holy mantle and even like him come down on the dusty soil!

Deliverance? Where is this deliverance to be found?
 Our master himself has joyfully taken upon him the bonds of creation; he is bound with us all for ever.


Come out of thy meditations and leave aside thy flowers and incense! What harm is there if thy clothes become tattered and stained? Meet him and stand by him in toil and in sweat of thy brow.
